Known best for his envelope-pushing role as co-host of the nationally syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God has been a staple throughout the entertainment industry for many years, and an influencer within pop culture. The multi-talented entrepreneur and businessman reigns as the executive producer and owner of a wildly successful production company (CThaGodWorld), co-host of an influential podcast (Brilliant Idiots), and New York Times’ best selling author (Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It, and October 2018’s release of Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me).
Born in 1978 in South Carolina, Lenard Larry McKelvey’s experiences throughout adolescence shaped his beliefs, and allowed him to speak upon various hot topics with experience, authority, and candor. Outspoken since youth, he adopted the public persona of Charlamagne Tha God, and began his career as a radio host alongside Wendy Williams. Immediately, he gained popularity, and a cult-like following, as a result of his honesty and convictions, as well as his unabashed celebrity interviewing style. With the ability to garner unparallelled insight from celebrities, and to provide compelling commentary on race relations, hip hop, popular culture, and world events, Charlamagne swiftly became a beautifully articulated voice for the people. In 2010, Charlamagne began his journey alongside DJ Envy, and Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club, and from there, he has appeared on numerous television shows, including MTV’s Guy Code, MTV’s New Year’s Live, and MTV2’s Uncommon Sense With Charlamagne.
Charlamagne continues to utilize his influence throughout pop culture to educate others, provide perspective, and motivate young people to find success. As a guest panelist for The Creative Collective’s CultureCon, and participant in various other community related events, Charlamagne parlays his own experiences into thought-provoking conversations with fans, peers, and community members.
